So here will see What are short notes, why should we make short notes and How to make short notes.
What are short notes?
A short summary of what we read and understood
Why should we make short notes?
For any exam you are preparing especially UPSC where your syllabus is too vast and content which you have to cover is from multiple sources and all these things you cannot just collect from a single source and might during exam you will feel burden of covering this vast content(multiple books, magazines articles, daily current affairs, important reports)
Here your short notes will help you to overcome this obstacle by providing a short and saturated content of your whole syllabus at one place. If you will be consistent enough in making short notes of whatever you are covering on daily basis can also help you in your mains answer writing.
How to make short notes?
Now this is a big question in every UPSC aspirants who have just started their journey l mean beginners
Many have complained that when they tried to make short notes they get difficulty in pointing out the important parts from content. They use to feel the entire content is important and they use to copy paste the entire content and here instead of getting a short notes they use to get a new hand written version of printed books.
So here is again a big question is how to abstract out what is important from a given lengthy content?
So here you have a very simple solution to this problem.
Just divide your entire content into 3 parts What, How and Why
Knowing these 3 things are just enough to understand a given content.
For example, you are preparing short notes for daily current affairs and in that govt has launched a scheme for the welfare of vulnerable section
Here just divide your content in 3 parts
1) What's the scheme
2) How the scheme can be beneficial for the vulnerable section
3) Why did govt launch this scheme(here you can cover background of the difficulties faced by these section in their daily lives)
And for example you are preparing short notes from modern history by rajiv ahir
Here we'll consider the first topic Arrival of European to India
Again here divide the entire issue in 3 parts
1) what's the issue( here you can cover important dates also of their arrival)
2) Why did they come(for trade)
3) How did they establish themselves(through step by step first by establishing factories they obtaining diwani rights and so on)
So just by dividing the entire issue into 3 parts you can easily make out your very short and crisp notes which will be very help in revision period.
